It's true. Your mother called and we have a message for you. She wants you to brush your hair and stand up straight. She also wants you to know that Mother's Day is coming up fast and there's nothing she wants more than some flowering goodness. She was so persuasive that we decided to have a Pre-Mother's Day sale at our greenhouse on Monday, May 3rd. From 9am - 8pm, you can swing by (remember we're on Old Butler Road in Shenango Township--about 1/2 mile from Mulligan's Restaurant) and pick up flowering hanging baskets for a special price {2 for $28.95}. The selection is the best right now so don't wait!

If you're old enough to remember the Simon and Garfunkel song, feel free to sing along with us "parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme" but if these lyrics mean nothing to you, just visit the greenhouse and ask one of our staff (preferably one who looks old enough to vote) to sing it to you as you shop around. We can't promise it'll be pretty, but it'll certainly be entertaining.

If you haven't already guessed, it's herb time! Yahoo! You should see how many different types we have this year (hint: there are over 40!). So many herbs, so little thyme (bad pun, we know).

In addition to individually potted herbs, you will find fabulous collections of them. Above is the Provence/French Cooking collection. We feel more cultured just talking about it. Along the same lines, we have the Italian Cooking collection. Now if we could just get ourselves a greenhouse chef we'd be in good shape. Oh, before we forget to mention, we have a spa collection. Can you stand it? We keep pretending to be exhausted and overworked so someone will surprise us with these!! Each herb collection includes eight heavenly little plants.

Here is more potted goodness - oregano plants mixed with other herbs that will make you want to race home and cook something (anything) as an excuse to enjoy these.

So treat someone special (and by this we mean you) to some fresh herbs today!

A few days ago we had a photo shoot for the Easter flowers at the greenhouse but Miss Lily wasn't quite ready. We tried everything we could to hurry her along, but she wouldn't have it. She said she couldn't work under pressure and refused to open up for us. Well, we went forward without her (sometimes you just have to put your foot down when you're dealing with beautiful flowers). Thankfully, she came around. Here she is, radiant as ever.

Miss Lily, you were well worth the wait!

Would you look at our hands?! It's barely spring and we're filthy dirty (and loving every minute of it!) We've attached some pictures so you can see for yourself what we've had our hands in at the greenhouse this week. Good thing it's warming up because these Easter blooms will knock your pretty little socks off.

Can you stand these hydrangeas?

Think the pink is pretty? Wait til you ponder the purple.

Say hello to these little lovelies. We're giddy just watching them grow.

Oh looky here, it's another hydrangea beauty.

The latest dirt!

Raise your hand if you're happy it's finally warming up outside! Go ahead, don't feel silly. No one can see you except for us and our hands are raised too. The only difference is that our hands are very dirty right now. You know why? Because Rise & Shine pansies are here! And English daisies! Oh, and let's remember the Forget-Me-Nots and three delicious shades of Coral Bells. It's a miracle we can get anything done we're so excited around here.

Now, listen carefully. You need to ignore that silly little voice in your head that says "I can't have outdoor flowers right now because it's still chilly." The truth is, many of the greenhouse gems we are working with now are as tough as they are pretty. They can take the cooler temps without even blinking a bud. Now, one thing they aren't prepared for is this: Your jealous neighbors. You might need to nail the roots down.

Stop by our store on Wilmington Road and grab a basket of pansies for your porch. Or hop in the car and head to our greenhouse on Old Butler Road. We've got lots of good things up our dirty sleeves, so stay tuned!
